It's difficult to succinctly
describe the nature or characteristics of the Fellowships. The words that
spring to mind are often those that have been grossly devalued by the
media so that they have become terms of derision. Sometimes they provoke
aggressive responses.
Try the following words and see what your reaction is.
- Christian
A real Christian is one who is a Christian inwardly. That's an
adaptation of something said by the apostle, Paul. The Fellowships
encourage people to establish a personal relationship with Jesus so
that they can know Him and have their lives changed such that their
nature and behaviour echoes that of Jesus.
- Fundamentalist.
Fundamentalist conjures up images of extremists and
terrorists. The Fellowships are simply groups of Bible-believing Christians who
expound sound doctrine and promote spiritual understanding.
- Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The media has tainted use of the use of spiritual gifts as an example
of excess. The Fellowships consider the operation of the gifts under
the leadership of the Holy Spirit as fundamental to the life of the
church.
- Organisms
The network of Fellowships have been described as an Organism
rather than an Organisation. They are - in the truest sense of the
phrase a "Family of Churches". Think of relatives that you
don't see for months or even years, and yet a family reunion occurs
and it is as though the intervening months and years had not
happened.
- Jesus Christ
A name that the fellowships hold dearest in their hearts. A
name that has been grossly devalued by the
media; is used as a expletive, curse, swear word; that often provokes an aggressive
response. Find out more if you are open minded by clicking here: Who is Jesus?
