There are no celebrities in the fellowships simply people who are well regarded and well loved. I even hesitate to mention names since I only know a subset of people and can't provide a complete list of who's where and who's doing what. Also, the people themselves do not seek acclaim, merely to do the work that the Lord has called them to. Yet it is useful to know some names since the Fellowships are all about God intervening in the lives of people and it is through the sending out of people, that the Fellowships have links around the world. So here are some names and where they fit into the Liverpool origins with apologies to those whom I omit unintentionally. The roots of the Liverpool Fellowships trace back to meetings that began in Queens Road, Everton with Norman Meeten, Dave Wetherley, Phil Williamson, Paul Evans, Dave Tomlinson. Links were forged with George North, then at the Longcroft, Barnston, Wirral. A great debt is owed to the departed and ascended Wesleys, John and Charles who provided the inspiration for a collection of Charles Wesley's compositions "Hymns of Eternal Truth" - sometimes referred to affectionately as "Hymns of Eternal Length", as they were faithful and complete to include all the verses and their original phrasing. It has been said that reading this collection of about 120 hymns will give you as sound a statement of Biblical doctrine as you are likely to find in any commentary. The fact that they can be sung takes them to a higher level. The Liverpool church moved from meeting at Queens Road to 14 Devonshire Road in Toxteth with 'Dad' (Ken) Moffat John Valentine, Fred Tomlinson, Dick Hussey, Len Grates, Keith Kelly. A church was later planted in the north of the city meeting in various locations before settling at Greenwich Road Mission in Aintree. Through just the people mentioned above there are links to Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe and South America. Probably the "best day" of the Summer Conference is "Missionary Day" (usually Wednesday) when we hear reports of what is happening in different countries from those attending the conference. George W NorthHaving already said that "There are no celebrities in the fellowships" I have to pay tribute to one person who was very much "well regarded and well loved". George North - and I have tears as I'm typing this - died (I hear) on Tuesday 29th April. He was in poor health and celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday 27th April. Find out more about these people... Audio and PDFAudio files of messages from some of the people mentioned are available
