This Aberdare is the one in South Wales - not the Aberdare in Africa - nor the New South Wales in Australia. The link is that we're now living there having moved from Liverpool. Our house is actually in a village called Trecynon that is so close to the town of Aberdare that it's a suburb. Aberdare has a website www.aberdareonline.co.uk with some scenic photographs of the area. It may sound very pious but we're in Aberdare because it is God's will for us to be here. The photograph above shows the building belonging to the church that we have joined ourselves to. Carmel Bryn Sion is a Baptist Church although the members have backgrounds in many different church groups such as Pentecostal, Church in Wales, Bretheren, Congregational and Baptist. We're from the Fellowships - part of the house church movement - but really the labels can be dispensed with. They're part of who you are - not what you are. We're all Christians with different backgrounds and experiences. It may sound very pious but we're in Carmel because the Holy Spirit told me that this was the local church we were meant to join. While I was commuting to South Wales from Liverpool, I visited a number of churches on the Sunday morning. After receiving the affirmation of the Holy Spirit, I attended the mid-week prayer meeting and bible study. There is a saying...You judge the popularity of the church by the attendance on Sunday morning; You judge the popularity of the minister by the attendance on the Sunday evening; You judge the popularity of Jesus by the attendance at the prayer meeting.
